‘New Horizons’ is a series that seeks to express, with the aid of photography, the ‘positive disintegration’ theory from Polish psychologist Kazimierz Dąbrowski and more specifically the concept of existential depression.
The social environment is often a gangue for autonomy and adjustment to a society which is itself primitive and confused, which hinders development and hampers the possibility of discovering our deepest nature. That said, even when one becomes more aware of the extent and complexity of life and one’s own culture, one begins to feel doubt, anxiety and depression. Dabrowski, insists that all this, as uncomfortable as it is, are all necessary steps on the road to advanced personal development.
